Happy Sunday!! Happy Father’s Day to those that are celebrating. Kensington Palace released two beautiful pictures today of William and the kids. I loved Charlotte’s big bear hug, that looks like it included both William and Louis! I know royal watchers love William’s relationship with his children. It’s delightful to see, genuine and real.
I have said this before, but I think Kate really helped William become the father that he is. I posted about this a year or two ago in our IG stories. While most agreed, there was one DM reply that didn’t. They explained that William was always good with children, even before becoming a Dad. I wasn’t taking any credit away from William. But being good with kids, isn’t always the same as being a wonderful Dad, especially for men.
I think Kate had a very clear sense of how she wanted to raise her children, among all the pull and pressures of palace life. Being in the spotlight all the time. Limitless possibilities of things to do and places to go, endlessly available. William and Kate have made very deliberate decisions about how they want to raise GCL. For instance, taking the children to and from school, on most days, not pushing that onto the nanny. I think a lot of this is prioritized by Kate. Being hands-on parents, even in the simplest of ways. This was driven home recently when Meghan seemed shocked by how time-consuming school runs can be. Without Kate’s influence, William’s role in fatherhood could look completely different.
Kate’s also prioritized recreating the aspects of her childhood that she loved too. Doing numerous outdoor activities with the children, being an active participant in their school life, and making sure the children have a strong relationship with their Dad, like she did. Kate and her Father even enjoyed physical challenges together growing up, including summiting Mont Blanc, just the two of them. I wonder if we hear tales like that about William and the children as they get older. I think Kate delights in their children being so close to William. I can imagine her encouragement and praise strengthen William as a Dad.
